Mixed Media Layered Collage Art

Participants will explore mixed media layering and negative-space painting techniques to create bold artworks with depth, texture, and visual contrast. The process begins by creating a layered mixed media background using collage elements and textured materials inspired either by an individual concept or a shared group theme. Participants then create and overlay a custom stencil shape and painting around the form and reveal the negative space beneath. The revealed shape may remain exposed to highlight the layered imagery below or be further developed with subtle textures, patterns, or written elements. This immersive workshop encourages creativity, storytelling, and artistic exploration while offering participants a highly personalized finished artwork to take home or display.
