This beginner-friendly livestream class blends cultural learning, hands-on creativity, and meditative practice, making it a perfect experience for team building, craft lovers, sustainability-minded makers, and anyone craving a mindful break. Sashiko began as a practical way to reinforce and mend clothing in rural Japan, but over time it evolved into a poetic craft full of symbolic patterns and regional stories. In this workshop, You'll learn the basics of Sashiko stitching and create your own decorative repair patch. Take it home and use it to repair a pair of jeans, jacket, shirt, bag, or another beloved piece when you're ready. This session is also designed for connection: a calming, creativity-forward experience that works beautifully for team-building, a unique bonding activity with friends or family, or a meaningful shared moment with someone special. You'll leave with foundational Sashiko skills, an appreciation of its cultural heritage, and a renewed sense of possibility in what your hands—and your old clothes—can create. This workshop features a rotating theme of beginner-friendly sashiko patterns, below is the seasonal workshop calendar: Jan-March: cross stitch (jujizashi) Apil-June: check stitch (koshi) July-Sept: rice grain stitch (komezashi) Oct-Dec: persimmon flower stitch (Kakinohanazashi) What you'll get in your craft kit a set of 8 different sashiko templates (stencils), Sashiko threads, needles, a set of erasable fabric pen in 8 colors, a thimble, a ruler.
