Get your team out of autopilot! “The Power of Curiosity” is an interactive, science-based workshop designed to cultivate curiosity, collaboration, and well-being in the workplace. A boost in curiosity can help enhance and refresh your team’s problem-solving strategies, communication skills, and decision-making abilities, and: curiosity is fun! This interactive workshop is led by Ph.D. scientist Kelly Reidy, who is likely one of the most curious people you’ll ever meet. Kelly teaches science communication at Pratt Institute, hosts monthly lectures for Atlas Obscura members, plays harp, leads museum scavenger hunts for Museum Hack, and has a steady stream of temporary obsessions, thanks to always following her curiosity. Kelly has over ten years of experience facilitating team building events and workshops at teambuilding.com, having worked with clients such as Google, Etsy, Capital One, Charles Schwab, Western Australian Museums, and the NYC Parks Department.  “The Power of Curiosity” workshop is grounded in neuroscience, positive psychology, and productivity research. Through a blend of discussion, happiness-inducing collaborative activities, and practical tools, you and your team will: • Discover how curiosity can improve well-being, focus, and productivity • Explore science-based solutions to instantly enhance curiosity • Learn to throw out assumptions and ask better questions • Reconnect with presence and wonder in everyday moments “The Power of Curiosity” is a joyful and transformative workshop, perfect for teams looking to recharge, reconnect, and gain a new appreciation for raisins (yes, raisins!). Available in-person in Washington, DC or virtually. Pricing: Pricing is a flat rate of $1425 for up to 15 guests and $95pp for each additional attendee. For virtual workshops, pricing is a flat rate of $1125 for up to 15 guests and $75pp for each additional attendee. Additional travel fee may apply outside of the Washington, DC metro area.

  1. Introduction & Team Formation
    20 minutes
    Kelly will start with a brief introduction to the workshop, and then lead the group in breaking into smaller teams and completing a few fun preliminary tasks that will set them up for success in later activities.
  2. What is curiosity, and why does it matter?
    20 minutes
    After “curiosity crews” have been formed, Kelly will give an overview of the science of curiosity and why it matters. She'll also ask a few trivia questions for groups to think about throughout the workshop, which Kelly will revisit at the end.
  3. Cultivating Curiosity: Techniques & Exercises
    60 minutes
    In the main section of the workshop, Kelly will present 3 powerful techniques to strengthen and cultivate curiosity. Each technique’s explanation will be followed by a corresponding exercise to allow your team to experience and practice the technique. Exercises include raisin tasting, paper-airplane building (a great photo op!), and asking the right questions.
  4. Conclusions, Debrief, & Discussion
    20 minutes
    To end the workshop, Kelly will reveal the answers to the trivia questions from the beginning, share her overall conclusions and takeaway ideas, and lead your team in a discussion in which they will be encouraged to share ideas about how they can apply the ideas they’ve learned to their work right away!

  • For in-person events, Kelly will come to you! You provide the space, and she'll do the rest, or you can collaborate together to find a suitable venue.

  • The ideal event space will have seating for participants, A/V hook-up for a slideshow, a microphone in the case of larger groups, and the ability for Kelly to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the event for set-up.
