He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph and later completed his law degree at the University of British Columbia, focusing on business law. After being called to the bar in Ontario, he practiced law before transitioning fully into entrepreneurship. Over time, he built and managed a large remote team, developing hands-on expertise in leading distributed workforces and creating systems for performance, accountability, and growth.
His insights on remote work, leadership, and team dynamics have been featured in major publications including The Economist, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. His commentary on employee engagement and workplace trends has been cited in hundreds of articles, including features in Fast Company and other leading outlets.
Earlier in his career, Michael spent time living and working in China, where he studied Mandarin and gained international business experience. This global perspective continues to inform his approach to building teams and designing experiences for companies operating across different cultures and time zones.
"One of the biggest wins you can have as a leader is giving your people more than they ask for."
