12 Fun Games to Play on FaceTime with Friends in 2024

You found our list of fun games to play on FaceTime.

FaceTime games are fun activities for the iOS app FaceTime. For example: truth or dare, trivia, and masked dancer. These games are playable on Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, iMacs, and Macbooks. The purpose of these games is to have fun and connect with friends, family, or coworkers. These activities are also known as “games to play on FT”.

These games are a subcategory of video call games, and are similar to games you can play on Zoom.

This list includes:

  • games to play on FaceTime
  • fun things to do on FaceTime with your BFF
  • games to play with friends on phone calls

Let’s get to it!

List of FaceTime games

Here is a list of the best games to play over FaceTime with friends and family. All of the challenges below are easy and fun for all ages.

1. Trivia

Trivia is a group game perfect for a social platform like FaceTime. You can play one-on-one, but the game tends to be funner with more participants. To play, plan a FaceTime call with as many trivia buffs as you can find. Next, designate one caller the emcee, and ask them to read the questions. The first player or team to answer questions correctly each round gains one point. Or, teams can iMessage the answer to the emcee, and every correct team earns one point. The emcee keeps score, and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Here are a few starter questions for your game:

2. FaceTime Truth or Dare

Folks typically use FaceTime on iPhones, iPads, or personal Macs. Your gamemates have other apps on these devices, which makes for a juicy game of Truth or Dare.

First, call an individual or group, then take turns challenging each other to answer questions or perform dares. Feel free to incorporate apps like iMessage, Notes, and Contacts into the game. If the truth or dare requires proof, then ask the player to send a screencreshot.

3. Masked Dancer

Masked Dancer is a game where you guess the identity of the dancer behind the digital mask. To hide outfits and body type, players can put on sweatshirts and gloves. Next, use the effects feature on FaceTime and select an anamoji. Once disguised, players dance around to music. Other players must determine the identity of the dancer based on the moves and music choice. After all participants guess, the dancer reveals themselves, and another player takes a turn.

Masked Dancer is only an option if players have a version of FaceTime that supports effects. The game works best if there are multiple participants in the same room, since this makes it harder to guess.

4. This or That

This or That is one of the best FaceTime games for kids. Throughout the game, players take turns asking each other to choose between two options. Typically, nobody keeps score and participants just play for fun.

Example prompts include:

  • Cats or dogs?
  • Summer or winter?
  • Morning or night?
  • Breakfast or dinner?
  • TV or movies?
  • Ice cream or cake?
  • Tacos or pizza?
  • Chocolate or vanilla?
  • Ninjas or pirates?

5. Newlywed Game

The Newlywed Game is an example of FaceTime games for couples in long distance relationships. Boyfriends and girlfriends enjoying virtual date nights will enjoy the game too.

To play, the couples answer questions about their relationships by uploading photos to a shared album or typing responses on iMessage. The player with the quickest correct answer, or the most sentimental answer, wins.

Here are some sample questions:

  • Location of our first date
  • What date did we make the relationship official?
  • First gift I got you
  • First meal you cooked me
  • Our best vacation
  • Wedding we attended together
  • My favorite food
  • My favorite band
  • My favorite color
  • Where I grew up
  • Where I went to college
  • My baby picture
  • Name or picture of my pet
  • Meme you think I’ll enjoy
  • Name or picture of my family member

In case of disagreements, you can call a friend or bring in a roommate or family member to act as a neutral third party tiebreaker.

While the Newlywed Game is fun for couples, feel free to play with friends, family members, or coworkers too.

6. Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever is one of the most popular FaceTime party games. To play, participants hold up ten fingers. Players take turns prefacing statements with “Never Have I Ever…” Any players who have performed the named act must lower one finger. The last player with fingers up wins.

You should tailor your questions to match your audience. For instance, if playing with coworkers or kids, give tamer prompts. If playing with close friends or a romantic partner, then you may be able to get away with bolder statements.

Here are some sample prompts suitable for all ages:

  • Eaten an insect
  • Swam in the ocean
  • Been on an airplane
  • Visited a foreign country
  • Been backstage at a concert
  • Met a celebrity
  • Drank spoiled milk
  • Owned a pet chicken
  • Marched in a parade

Folks often like to play Never Have I Ever as a drinking game.

7. Pictionary

Pictionary is one of the best board games to play over FaceTime. The only materials needed to play are paper, and a marker. Participants can choose words by using a pictionary generator. Then, one player must draw the word while other players guess what it is. Pictionary is typically played in group settings, and FaceTime users can play on one-on-one calls by guessing the word before time runs out. Either way, one player should use the Clock app on the device as a timer.

8. Would You Rather

Would You Rather is an easy game to play on FaceTime. You do not need any materials to play, besides a list of questions. Players take turns asking each other to choose between two actions. Often, the options are ridiculous or uncomfortable.

Here are some sample Would You Rather questions:

  • Forget your address or your name?
  • Win the lottery or land your dream job?
  • Run from zombies or the paparazzi?
  • Never gain weight or never accrue debt?
  • Stub your toe or hit your funny bone?
  • Have a pimple or a rash on your face?
  • Have your own private jet for one day or a chauffeur for life?

You can tailor questions to fit the audience and make prompts more work appropriate or kid friendly. The questions on the list above are suitable for all ages.

Check out our full list of Would You Rather Questions.

9. Charades

FaceTime is a straightforward video app that brings loved ones face to face. A simple game of charades suits the platform perfectly. To play, call up a friend or group of friends. Then, take turns acting out sayings, movie names, song titles, or other famous phrases. For inspiration and ideas, use a charades generator.

For an extra challenge, set a time limit on guessing.

10. Word Association

Word Association is a fast-paced vocabulary game perfect for one on one FaceTime calls. To start, one caller says a word, and the other must reply with a related word. There are a couple of ways to structure the game. Player one can respond to player two’s word with a related word, or player one can use random words until player two falters. If playing the second way, then callers can use the stopwatch on the clock app to measure which player lasts longer.

The round continues until a player repeats a word or hesitates for more than five seconds.

For more fun with language, check out our list of vocabulary games.

11. Read My Lips

Read My Lips tests players’ nonverbal communication and listening skills. To play this game, one caller hits the mute button, then speaks a word or phrase. Other players must read lips and try to guess the saying. The speaker can repeat the phrase as few or as many times as they like, and can answer questions by shaking their head no or nodding yes. Players must guess the phrase in 60 seconds or less, or 30 or less for a challenge.

If you have trouble thinking up sayings, then use a random phrase generator.

12. Most Likely To

Most Likely To is one of the most fun FaceTime group games. To play, read off statements, and decide which member of the group fits the description best.

Here are some sample Most Likely To Questions:

  • Who is most likely to multitask while on the phone with you?
  • Who is most likely to talk on the phone while in the bathroom?
  • Who is most likely to answer the phone in the middle of the night?
  • Who is most likely to buy the newest iPhone?
  • Who is most likely to start a fire while cooking?
  • Who is most likely to appear on a reality show?
  • Who is most likely to win the lottery?
  • Who is most likely to secretly be royalty?
  • Who is most likely to get lost while driving?
  • Who is most likely to dream up a million dollar invention?
  • Who is most likely to leave this video call early?

If you want to play for points, then award or deduct points from the player with the most votes each round.
